Marc Diakiese vs Nasrat Haqparast In The Works For UFC Hamburg
UFC Hamburg takes place on July 22 and an exciting lightweight bout is in the works.
Sources close to MMANytt.com have suggested that a fight between Marc Diakiese and Nasrat Haqparast is in the works for the UFC’s return to Germany in July. GNP1.de reported the bout this morning.
Haqparast (8-2) has had a turbulent time in the UFC so far with one loss and one fight cancelled just 24-hours prior to fight night. The German debuted back in October last year when he faced Marcin Held at UFC Gdansk. Haqparast lost the bout via unanimous decision, but he took the bout on just a few weeks notice and was quickly rebooked to fight Alex Reyes at UFC London last March. Unfortunately, Reyes pulled from the bout just two before and Cage Warriors featherweight champion Nad Narimani was drafted in as a late replacement. Haqparast then saw his bad luck continue when he was pulled from the bout himself just hours before fight night after it was discovered he was suffering from an eye infection. With all these disappointments behind him, Haqparast will now look to get back on track, but in his way with be a formidable opponent.
Diakiese (12-2) debuted in the UFC back in October 2016 and quickly put together three wins against Lukasz Sajewski, Frankie Perez and Teemu Packalen. The former BAMMA champion seemed destined to rocket up the lightweight rankings, but at The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption Finale he suffered the first loss of his career when he was defeated by Drakkar Klose. Diakiese then returned to the Octagon back at UFC 219, but this time lost via submission in the third round to Dan Hooker. He will now look to return to winning ways when he facesh Haqparast in Hamburg on July 22.
No bouts have been officially confirmed for UFC Hamburg, but announcements are expected soon.
