KSW Boss Lewandowski Hopeful For A Rematch Between Mamed Khalidov And Tomasz Narkun This Year
Mamed Khalidov and Tomasz Narkun produced one of the fights of the year so far at KSW 43 and the promotion are hoping that a rematch can take place later this year.
Speaking to MMANytt.com this past weekend in Poland, KSW co-founder Martin Lewandowski confirmed that Khalidov would fight again for KSW this year and that the KSW middleweight champion was fired up to get back into the cage following his loss in March.
“Mamed is a very unique fighter and he’s our legend,” Lewandowski said.
“He helped build KSW to what it is now and we helped build him, it’s like a synergy.
“He will return after this last loss and he felt very bad afterwards. Even in the cage he was asking for this rematch to happen, but of course, we have already booked some venues so we need to see where we can put this rematch.”
Whether the rematch between Khalidov and Narkun is the next fight for both men is unclear. Lewandowski said that the promotion are considering have them fight one more time each before trying to put the rematch together at the end of the year.
“I think maybe one fight for Mamed and Narkun separately, that’s what I can guess, or maybe they will be straight into the rematch after the last show,” Lewandowski said.
“We need to do some talking with the fighters, because you know how it works, the losing fighters wants the rematch and the winner is more ‘no, why should I fight again with the same fighter.’
“We can’t force them to fight, but I think that would be a good idea to have the rematch this year.”
