Chimaev’s potential opponents are aplenty, including high-ranked middleweights like Jared Cannonier and Israel Adesanya, both currently without booked fights. With the gala close to Ramadan, there’s speculation that Chimaev might forgo the observance for a more lucrative opportunity.

This weekend’s UFC 297 will see the middleweight title on the line between champion Sean Strickland and challenger Dricus du Plessis. The winner might just secure a lucrative bout against Chimaev at UFC 300.

Khamzat’s Last Outing

Chimaev’s last fight was at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi against former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, who took the fight on short notice and debuted in the middleweight division. Chimaev won by decision, but his performance raised questions about his stamina, especially after losing momentum in the later rounds.

The fight ended with one judge scoring a draw, giving Chimaev a 10-8 in the first round. The other two judges scored 29-27 in favor of Chimaev, marking his thirteenth consecutive victory.
