Khabib Nurmagomedov Warns UFC Not To Put Him In A Room With Conor McGregor On A World Tour
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has warned the UFC against putting him in the same room as Conor McGregor if they’re thinking about putting them both on a world tour to promote their inevitable fight later this year.
Speaking backstage to Aaron Bronsteter of TSN having watching his teammate Islam Makhachev defeat Kajan Johnson, Nurmagomedov spoke about his preferred date to fight McGregor.
“I think it’s a short time to promote this kind of fight because this will be one of the biggest fights in UFC history,” Nurmagomedov said regarding the rumours he and McGregor will fight on Oct. 6.
“9 weeks before fight, if we’re to make like a world tour, October is a little bit short. I don’t know but this is what I think.
“December is going to be good too, November is going to be good too, but when they make fight Aldo vs McGregor it was May or June, they make fight in December.
“This time is for promote this fight is very good. I don’t make decision, but for me, I think sixth of October is very good. Why not?”
Speaking of world tours, Nurmagomedov warned the UFC off putting him in the same room as the Irishman.
“100-percent we’re going to fight,” Nurmagomedov said.
“This is not about a room or somewhere, 100-percent we’re going to fight. If I see this guy I am going to fight with him.
“This is not my decision, this is not my problem. This is UFC problem.
“If they’re going to put me and Conor inside of room, why make fight? We can fight in that room and that is it.
“I can finish him. I think room is a very bad idea for UFC and for Conor.”
Nurmagomedov then went on to reference McGregor touching Jose Aldo on the shoulder during the promotional tour for their eventual fight in 2015. The Russian warned that should the Irishman try something similar with him, it would end very badly.
“Like when Aldo stay in room with him and touch his shoulder, nobody can touch my shoulder all my life, nobody,” Nurmagomedov warned.
“Nobody can do this. Maybe he can put something through the bus, but nobody can touch my shoulder. Nobody, this isn’t about Conor or any other guy. Nobody can touch me.”
If it was even possible, things between McGregor and Nurmagomedov just got a little more heated.
