Khabib Nurmagomedov: ‘The UFC Are Working On A Fight Versus Conor McGregor’
Could we be nearing in on a showdown between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov? According to the Russian, the UFC are working on it.
Speaking today via social media platform ‘Live Raise,’ Nurmagomedov gave an update on his current status and suggested that the UFC are currently in talks with both parties.
“Very soon I’m going to come to USA, to California and begin my training camp,” Nurmagomedov said.
“When the UFC give me fight I’m going to come to California and I’m going to stay at AKA for nine weeks with my family before the fight and I’m going to defend my title.
“This year I want to defend my title. About opponents? I don’t know to be honest. I don’t know, but the UFC are working on a fight versus Conor [McGregor].”
Whilst a fight with McGregor would no doubt be the most financially lucrative for Nurmagomedov, the Russian doesn’t appear to be pinning all his hopes on facing the Irishman.
With Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier facing one another on July 28 at UFC Calgary, Nurmagomedov isn’t going to have any shortage of potential opponents chasing him down and he appears to be happy to take on any of them.
“If they give Conor then I’m going to fight Conor, if they give different opponent, GSP or winner of Alvarez vs Poirier, it doesn’t matter let’s go.”
