Here’s What Khabib Nurmagomedov Was Shouting At Dana White During His Fight At UFC 219
Not every fighter on the UFC roster gets face-to-face time with Dana White, but Khabib Nurmagomedov makes use of every second he’s within earshot of the UFC President, even while he’s fighting.
This past weekend at UFC 219, Nurmagomedov was seen trying to speak to White in-between rounds during his fight with Edson Barboza.
The camera work on the night didn’t capture exactly what the Russian was shouting through the cage to UFC President, but the ‘Thrill and Agony’ video released by the promotion today on UFC Fight Pass shows exactly what Nurmagomedov was saying.
“I’m here three months without my family,” Nurmagomedov said.
“My wife was pregnant. I didn’t cry one and a half years, ‘Oh my wife’s pregnant.’
“But I came here like a man because I try to stay busy.
“But, without injury, I can smash all lightweights.”
The Russian was of course referencing the current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor who took time out after UFC 205 until the birth of his son Conor Jr. in May 2017. After that, McGregor went on to box Floyd Mayweather on in August and has now fought in the UFC since winning the UFC lightweight title back in Nov. 2016.
It came to light last week that Nurmagomedov was in Las Vegas for his fight with Barboza during the birth of his first son who was born on Saturday morning.
