Terror Attack in Dagestan
Last Sunday, Dagestan was struck by a coordinated terror attack that resulted in the deaths of at least 20 people, including 15 police officers and an Orthodox priest. The attacks targeted Orthodox churches, synagogues, and police posts in the cities of Derbent and Makhachkala. Six militants were also killed during the confrontations. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, which have been condemned by various international communities.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Reaction
MMA star Khabib Nurmagomedov took to Instagram to express his sorrow over the tragic events. He stated,
“I extend my condolences to the relatives and friends of all the victims. May Allah protect us from such institutions and grant us peaceful skies above our heads. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and be mindful of those around your children. Educating souls is more important than educating bodies.”

Connections to the Militants
One of the attackers, Gadzhimurad Kagirov, was identified as having connections to Khabib and his late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. Kagirov, an MMA fighter, was a student of Abdulmanap and represented Khabib’s Eagle MMA gym. He was a celebrated athlete, holding the title “Master of Sport” in freestyle wrestling before transitioning to MMA ? ?.
