Justin Gaethje calls for title shot vs Nurmagomedov – Ferguson winner

After a fantastic performance at UFC Vancouver, Justin "The Highlight" Gaethje wants a shot at the UFC title

In the main event at UFC Vancouver, top-ranked lightweights and friends; Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Justin Gaethje threw down. In an exciting bout that didn’t go past the opening round, Gaethje managed to clip “Cowboy” with on overhand right, and finished the fight. Afterwards, with three straight wins by KO, Gaethje called for a title shot against the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Feguson.

“The Irishman (Conor McGregor) is retired. I want a real fighter, I want the winner of Tony and Khabib. I want to fight Khabib before he’s gone, and if Tony wins, nobody is going to miss that fight. We could put a million people in a stadium.”

While Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have not yet officially been booked to fight, that match up is expected to be next for both fighters. Nurmagomedov recently defended his lightweight title against Dustin Poirier and UFC 243 last weekend. Gaethje calling for the next shot at the title is not surprising, as his performances speak for themselves.

Gaethje now has a record-setting seven performance bonuses in just six UFC appearances. He began his current winning streak by brutally knocking out bitter rival James Vick. He then faced veteran Edson Barboza, again winning by vicious knockout. Now with three straight, first round knockouts, it’s hard to deny Gaethje the next title shot after Ferguson gets his chance.
