Justin Gaethje BLASTS Conor McGregor for title shot comment: “F*** you!”

UFC 242 went down this weekend, culminating in a lightweight unification bout between reigning Khabib Numragomedov and interim champ Dustin Poirier. As is now known, Nurmagomedov dominated the fight, eventually sinking in a rear naked choke that stopped the fight. Afterwards, Nurmagomedov’s rival Conor McGregor called for a rematch against the Russian, somewhat unsurprisingly. One of those who did not take kindly to McGregor’s comments were lightweight contender Justin Gaethje.

Gaethej responded to McGregor’s comment on Twitter, and certainly did not hold back.

“You’re a tool,” Gaethje wrote. “You have lost everything already. You are a shit human, father, and husband. Fuck you.”

McGregor vs Gaethje?

It was revealed last month that a bout between McGregor and Gaethje was in planning stages for this summer. Those plans were scrapped due to McGregor injuring his hand. It’s more than possible that Gaethje is fanning the flames of war in order to get the McGregor fight re-booked.

Gaethej is currently sitting on a two fight winning streak. He at first returned to the win column with a vicious first round knockout over James Vick. He then extended that winning streak by knocking out Edson Barboza, also in the first round. McGregor, on the other hand, has not won a bout since November 2016, when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title. That title was later stripped due to inactivity.
