Jose Aldo goes vegetarian ahead of bantamweight debut – Looks ghastly
Former featherweight champion Jose Aldo is looking to revitalize his career after losing three out of his last five bouts in the octagon. But, is he doing it right?
A couple of months after his unanimous decision loss to Alexander Volkanovski in May, Aldo’s team announced that the 33-year-old Brazilian would start competing in the bantamweight division.
Instead of easing into his new division, Aldo will take on fellow Brazilian and #1 contender Marlon Moraes, the former WSOF champion recently fought for the bantamweight title against reigning champion Henry Cejudo.
But as many fans have pointed out, Aldo is looking ghastly ahead of his Dec. 14 bout:
It was nice of the Nova Uniao guys to hold Jose Aldo upright for this photo, to minimize the visual impact of whatever degenerative disease has ravaged his body. pic.twitter.com/neftSTO0ss

Jose Aldo is eating 2 pounds of salad – every day
In a recent interview (via MMA fighting), Aldo revealed that he is eating A LOT of greens to make weight:
“I’ve been on a diet for two months and we have changed a lot already, but it hasn’t been that different,” Aldo explained.
“We’re doing another diet this week, but it’s just fine for me. I’m eating on the right time, eating healthy food only, and that’s keeping me really strong.”
“I’m eating [salad] a lot now, almost two pounds of salad a day. But I’ll be able to [eat steak] the Saturday after the fight.”
But regardless of Aldo’s words, just a quick look on his Instagram shows that the former champion looks pale and drained of energy.
Obviously, Aldo is not on a strict vegetarian diet, but it seems like this weight cut is taking a toll on the former champion that reigned the WEC/UFC featherweight division between 2008-2015.
