Jorge Masvidal Preparing for UFC Return in March 2025
Jorge Masvidal is planning his return to the UFC in March 2025, marking his comeback after nearly two years away from mixed martial arts. The former UFC star last fought in April 2023, when he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. Following this defeat, Masvidal announced his retirement, a move many believed would be permanent. However, like numerous fighters before him, Masvidal’s retirement was short-lived, and he has confirmed his intentions to return to the octagon.
During a conversation on Bo Nickal’s YouTube channel, Masvidal gave fans a hint about his future.
“Next year in March, I’m there,” Masvidal said, adding with a smile, “if they take it to Miami, I’m gonna f**k somebody up in Miami.”
Although the details remain unclear, Masvidal seems confident about fighting in his hometown, despite playfully denying having insider information about UFC’s plans for Miami.
Recovery and the Benefits of a Break
The time away from the UFC seems to have done Masvidal some good, both physically and mentally. He admitted in the same interview that focusing on boxing and professional wrestling during his break helped him avoid the heavy toll that MMA takes on the body.
“I didn’t destroy my body, no kicks to my elbows or constant grappling,” Masvidal shared.
He also mentioned feeling rejuvenated after using stem cells, highlighting his focus on health as he prepares for his return to the grueling demands of MMA.

Staying Active Despite Retirement
Although retired from MMA, Masvidal hasn’t been completely absent from the fight scene. He fought Nate Diaz in a boxing match earlier in 2024, although he lost by a narrow margin. He’s also dabbled in professional wrestling, which kept him sharp and active during his hiatus from the UFC. Now, as he eyes a comeback, the anticipation builds around who he might face in his return bout. While the opponent remains unknown, Masvidal is determined to make his return in style, targeting a big fight to excite fans.
Masvidal’s journey back to the UFC has drawn attention, and it will be interesting to see how his break and alternative training have impacted his performance. One thing is certain—he’s eager to remind fans why he’s one of the sport’s most electrifying fighters.
