Jorge Masvidal “a hundred percent” ready to fight Khabib
When it comes to MMA, a super fight is always enticing. From the classic battle between BJ Penn and Georges St-Pierre to the anticipated trilogy between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic, there are tons of interesting fights that have and will occur. There is another potential super fight, though, that the UFC could put into motion if the promotion desired it: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Jorge Masvidal.
Nurmagomeov reigns supreme as the undefeated lightweight champion with an astonishing 28-0 record and two title defences in his long list of merits. Masvidal exploded in popularity last, becoming one of the best and most sought after fighters of 2019. He won three straight fights via T/KO, and captured the inaugural UFC BMF title following a win over Nate Diaz.
Speaking in a recent Instagram live session, Masvidal explained that he’s more than willing to fight Nurmagomedov – For the right price.

“If they pay me what I’m worth? To go down to 155 [lbs]? A hundred percent,” Masvidal said. “I like what Khabib does. I like that he’s in the field. He’s one of the best lightweights at the weight currently. Just that obstacle alone would be enough for me to consider dropping that weight. But then, the UFC would have to be working for it.”
Nurmagomedov is currently scheduled to face interim champion Justin Gaethje on September 12. That will be Nurmagomedov’s fight fight in the UFC in over a year, in his last outing he defeated Dustin Poirier via submission.
Masvidal is currently not int he UFC’s good graces, as he has been openly feuding with the promotion. He was originally slated to face welterweight champion Kamaru Usman for the title, though negotiations broke down and Masvidal began revealing his side of the story on social media.
As of now the fight is unlikely, but little is completely ruled out in MMA.
