Jon Jones teases new title defence: “Big fight announcement coming”
Undisputed UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones last fought as recently as July 6th, in one of his most hard fought title defences so far. At UFC 239 Jones took on Brazilian striker Thiago Santos, and the dominant champion actually lost on one of the judges score cards for the first time in his career. Despite that, Jones pulled away with a split decision victory and is now focused on his next task. That task might be a showdown with Polish powerhouse Jan Blachowicz.

While Blachowicz hasn’t officially ben announced as the next title contender, he’s considered by many as the most eligible to face Jones next. Ohmbet have Jones as a heavy favourite at 1.18, with Blachowicz as a clear underdog at 4.50. These betting lines paint a clear picture, though we have seen plenty of upsets in terms of title fights.
Blachowicz has won five out of his last six fights, most recently defeating former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold via brutal knockout. Before the win over Rockhold, Blachowicz himself suffered a knockout loss to Santos, the most recent title challenger. Before that, he had wins over Nikita Krylov and Jimi Manuwa, amongst others.
Since recapturing the light heavyweight title at UFC 232 in December last year, Jones has defended his title twice this year. Both defences were via decision, fist over Anthony Smith then Santos.
How do you think Jan Blachowicz will fare against Jon Jones?
