Jon Jones Responds to Francis: You’re Not a Champ
Jon Jones has sent a tweet to Francis Ngannou after the reigning heavyweight champion spoke about him in an interview with TMZ sports.
After Ngannou knocked out Stipe Miocic in their re-match for the UFC 260 title, there was hope that Ngannou would defend his belt against Jones.
During the summer of 2020, Jones had given up his title in light heavyweight division, at the same time as he made it clear that he had his sights set on the UFC heavyweight belt. However, the UFC and President Dana White failed to book a fight between Ngannou and Jones, because Jones did not get his pay requirements met.
Instead, Dana White announced that Derrick Lewis was next in line to face Ngannou for the title, but Ngannou is still set for Jones.
– Give me Jon Jones! That’s the fight I want. I do not care what has been said and already planned. I love that fight and it’s Jones I’m set to face.
Jones was quick to respond to the champion.
Remember you’re not a champ until you defend that title, be careful what you wish for.

Jones has been inactive for over a year
Jones has not fought since February 2020 against Dominick Reyes when he won by unanimous decision. However, Jones is still ranked number one in the pound for pound ranking and will probably need to compete in the near future if it is to hold up.
Jones has recently gained several pounds of muscle, and has hired a new adviser, maybe it will help him book the long-awaited match against Ngannou.
The UFC and MMA fans around the world have longed for the potential super fight and would certainly see it as a tragedy if the bout between Jones and Ngannou did not materialize.
