Jon Jones Mocks Tom Aspinall After Training Video
Jones’ Sarcastic Message to Aspinall “Focused on ‘GOAT’ Things”
The current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has recently taken to social media to comment on Tom Aspinall for the first time since Aspinall’s interim title defense against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304.
On July 27, at UFC 304 in Manchester, Tom Aspinall joined an elite group of fighters by becoming only the third interim champion in UFC history to successfully defend his interim belt. Despite this achievement, the UFC has yet to organize a unification bout between Aspinall and the reigning champion, Jon Jones.
For months, fans have been urging the UFC to abandon the planned Jones vs. Stipe Miocic fight—citing Miocic’s lack of recent victories—and instead arrange a showdown between Jones and Aspinall. UFC President Dana White recently confirmed that the winner of the Jones-Miocic bout will face Aspinall next, but both Miocic and Jones have hinted at retirement after this fight.
Looks like Tom displaying that amazing UK wrestling. My focus is on stipe, he actually wrestled division one. Best heavyweight of all time as of right now. Maybe Tom will go on and beat stipes record one day, right now I’m focusing on goat things. https://t.co/5qpMhdsE3x

Jones’ Social Media Jab at Aspinall
Initially, Jones responded to fans who accused him of ducking Aspinall for an easier matchup. However, Jones has since been less active on social media, refraining from engaging much with fans.
This changed after a recent UFC TNT program featuring Aspinall, where he discussed the upcoming UFC 305 event alongside former rugby player Ugo Monye. During the show, Monye accidentally made Aspinall stumble, a moment that quickly gained attention online, with many UFC fans questioning whether Aspinall would struggle against Jones in a potential matchup.
Jones seized this opportunity to mock Aspinall on X (formerly Twitter), posting:
“Looks like Tom is showing off that fantastic British wrestling. My focus is on Stipe, who actually wrestled in Division I. Best heavyweight in the world right now. Maybe Tom can break Stipe’s record one day, but for now, I’m focused on ‘GOAT’ things.”
Aspinall’s Response
Aspinall, known for his sense of humor, responded to Jones’ jab with a cheeky Instagram post, joking that Jones should “pass him the belt on the way out,” a clear dig at Jones’ potential retirement and Miocic’s age.
