Jon Jones to Khamzat Chimaev: ‘Enough Now’

Jon Jones Claps Back at Khamzat Chimaev's Challenge

In the electrifying world of Mixed Martial Arts, a potential clash between Jon Jones, the heavyweight champion, and rising star Khamzat Chimaev has sent shockwaves through the UFC fandom. Recently, Chimaev, during a podcast appearance, expressed his dream to face Jones, a light heavyweight legend now dominating the UFC’s heavyweight division.

Chimaev, competing in the middleweight category, firmly believes he has what it takes to dethrone “Bones”. “I’m younger than him,” declared Chimaev. “I hope he doesn’t leave this job so I can get this match too. Growing up… I admired him, his training regimen. I’ve learned a lot from watching him. We even talked about training together, he’s a cool guy. We had a good laugh.”

This confidence might stem from his training sessions with Alexander Gustafsson, who once pushed Jones to his limits. However, Jones remains skeptical about the competitiveness of such a match.

Khamzat Chimaev, enough now. Don’t let people ask you such questions,” Jones retorted on X (formerly Twitter). “There’s a whole generation wanting to see me do it again; I get that.”

Following a hard-fought victory over former welterweight champ Kamaru Usman, Chimaev is on the brink of a middleweight title shot. His next potential matchup could be against the winner of the title fight between middleweight champion Sean Strickland and top contender Dricus du Plessis at UFC 297.

Meanwhile, Paulo Costa is keen on facing Chimaev, following a missed opportunity at UFC 294 due to a severe elbow infection.
