John Kavanagh Reveals Gunnar Nelson Has Been Offered Darren Till in UFC London Main Event
UFC Fight Night in London still needs a main event and Gunnar Nelson is ready to take that spot.
On Wednesday, Nelson’s coach John Kavanagh revealed that they’ve been offered a main event matchup against British knockout artist Darren Till for the upcoming UFC card in London on March 17.
At this point, Kavanagh says that Nelson has accepted the offer but they are still awaiting word from Till on whether or not he’ll take the fight.
“So UFC have offered Gunnar Nelson vs. Darren Till main event UFC London. We’ve agreed so hoping to hear confirmation soon,” Kavanagh wrote.
“How do you guys like the matchup? I’m reminded of the [Brandon] Thatch fight. Big strong striker but I think Till is tougher challenge. One way to find out.”

Nelson and Till have exchanged several messages over Twitter trying to put the fight together themselves but now it appears the UFC is on board as well.
Just recently, Nelson talked about the potential matchup with Till where he would be giving up a lot of size to the Liverpool based slugger, but that’s nothing he hasn’t dealt with before.
“We had a little back and forth me and Darren Till and to be honest I thought that fight was going to happen. I was pretty sure of it. After that then nothing happened. I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Nelson said.
“He’s a great fighter. He’s been doing really well. He’s got good striking. He’s a very big guy as well, not that I’m not used to that. I’ve always fought bigger opponents. I’m used to being the smaller man. I’ve always done well against heavier opponents and I could see myself match up well against Darren.”
Till hasn’t responded yet but it has appeared for quite some time that the UFC was either targeting him or Michael Bisping for the headline spot on the London card. There’s still no word yet on who will end up headlining but the UFC is definitely attempting to get that finalized now.
