John Dodson vs. Pedro Munhoz Rebooked for UFC 222 in Las Vegas

After their first fight was cancelled, John Dodson and Pedro Munhoz will try again at UFC 222

After a failed weight cut led to the cancellation of their fight this past weekend in Brazil, John Dodson and Pedro Munhoz have been rebooked to meet at UFC 222 in Las Vegas on March 3.

UFC officials confirmed the matchup on Wednesday.

Dodson and Munhoz were originally scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night in Belem, Brazil but the bout was scrapped with just 24 hours remaining until the event.

Munhoz came in over weight and Dodson wasn’t willing to accept the bout without certain concessions being made to ensure his opponent wouldn’t come in that much heavier on fight day.

“He came in five pounds over weight,” Dodson said last week after the fight was scrapped. “Originally, they told me he was three pounds [over] and I gave him the benefit of the doubt and said oh he’s 139? They said he’s more like 140 point something. I’m guessing he’s in the ballpark figure around 141. He’s not a bantamweight now, he’s a featherweight first. Second, I made all the sacrifices and did my job to make weight and he chose not to.”

Ultimately, the UFC ended up pulling the contest from the card but now Dodson and Munhoz will finally look to get into the cage together in a few weeks with the matchup now shifted to UFC 222 in Las Vegas.
