Joe Rogan on Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley: Praising Jake For Demonstrating True Boxing Skills
Tyron Woodley, the former UFC welterweight champion who was a strong collegiate wrestler before transitioning to MMA, will begin a pro boxing career in August with social media sensation Jake Paul.
Woodley, who turned 39 in April, has seven knockouts in 19 fights and is largely regarded as Paul’s most dangerous opponent to date, which may not be saying much considering his previous opponents.
However, UFC color commentator Joe Rogan is still concerned.
Rogan mentioned Jake and his brother Logan Paul’s foray into boxing on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast recently, praising Jake for demonstrating true boxing skill.
“Woodley punches really fucking hard and when he doesn’t have to worry about wrestling, doesn’t have to worry about getting as tired, and can pick his shots, he’ll be the most dangerous guy Jake Paul has ever fought, for sure. but, it doesn’t necessarily means that he wins. I think Jake Paul can fucking box.” Rogan said on the podcast.
“They got famous first and then turns out they can fight!” Rogan said. “Especially Jake. That kid can knock people the fuck out. He knows how to punch…
“He’s only got a couple of fights. Here’s how you have to look at him. Look at him like any other guy whose only got a couple of fights. If you saw a guy who was coming up and he didn’t have an amateur career and he’s only got a couple of fights, you’d go, ‘Man, he’s got some promise.’”
Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley are set to fight on Aug. 28 in Miami, Florida. The bout will be shown on Showtime PPV.
