Jimmie Rivera Gunning For Cody Garbrandt, Not Marlon Moraes
It’s not been an easy few months for UFC bantamweight, Jimmie Rivera.
The 28-year-old was originally expected to face Dominick Cruz at UFC 219 last month, but when a broken arm ruled Cruz out of the fight, the UFC turned to John Lineker who later pulled out himself after having to undergo surgery to remove his wisdom teeth.
Since then, Rivera has kept relatively quiet, but last evening, fellow UFC bantamweight contender Marlon Moraes spoke out via Twitter and posted a picture of a signed bout agreement to face Rivera at UFC on Fox 28 in February.
“Here you go @JimmieRivera135 I signed my bout agreement,” Moraes wrote on Twitter. “@ufc on fox. I also agreed to fight you on march 3rd choose what day you want me to beat your ass B-I-T-C-H @seanshelby @danawhite @AliAbdelaziz00.”

Rivera was then asked about the potential fight by Fansided MMA and he flat out denied he’d been approached about the fight. Instead, Rivera suggested he’d bee approached to fight the former UFC bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt.
“Last thing [that] was spoken to Sean [Shelby] was a possible fight with Cody [Garbrandt],” River said.
Rivera is 21-1 and currently riding a 13 fight win streak with 5 straight wins in the UFC. With wins over the likes of Iuir Alcântara, Urijah Faber and most recently Tomas Almeida, Rivera has put himself in prime position for a title shot should he get one more win against a top contender at 135-pounds.
