Jessica Aguilar vs. Jodie Esquibel Scrapped from UFC Fight Night in Utica

A women's strawweight bout between Jessica Aguilar and Jodie Esquibel has been pulled from UFC Fight Night in Utica

The UFC Fight Night card in Utica, N.Y. on Friday is down to 12 fights after the strawweight bout between Jessica Aguilar and Jodie Esquibel was scrapped just about an hour away from the event start time.

Sources stated that the New York State Athletic Commission pulled the fight over concerns about a cut on Aguilar’s lip that they believed was infected. Additional sources said that Aguilar had her lips checked out following similar concerns raised on Thursday and that she had been cleared to compete.

Unfortunately it appears the commission had other ideas and ultimately pulled the bout on Friday.

With Aguilar vs. Esquibel scrapped, UFC Fight Night from Utica will move forward with 12 bouts with the first fight kicking off at 7 p.m. ET.
