James Gallagher Out; Benson Henderson vs. Roger Huerta Now Headlines Bellator 196
Bellator 196 has a new main event.
Following a hand injury to rising Irish superstar James Gallagher, a new matchup has been made that will see former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson take on Roger Hueta in a scrap at 155 pounds that will headline the card on April 6 in Hungary.
Sources close to the matchup confirmed the bout on Monday following an initial report from MMAFighting.
Huerta makes his return to Bellator for the first time since 2010 after he amassed a 1-2 record in the promotion after leaving the UFC. In recent years, Huerta has spent most of his time competing in ONE Championship where he went 2-3 over five fights.
Now Huerta will return to Bellator where he faces Henderson, who is also looking to get back on track after losing a razor close split decision in his last bout against Patricky “Pitbull” Freire this past September. That fight dropped Henderson’s Bellator record to 1-3 so he will undoubtedly try to get back on solid ground with a win in April.
