Jack Hermansson Wants Jacare Souza In Sao Paolo After Surviving ‘Torture’
Jack Hermansson pulled off one of the comebacks of the year this past weekend when he fought back valiantly to defeat Thales Leites at UFC 224.
The Swede appeared to suffer a rib injury early on in the fight and looked to be in deep trouble as the Brazilian started to pile on the pressure.
Just when all hope looked lost heading into the third round, Hermansson recovered and managed to get the finish via ground and pound with less than three minutes on the clock.
Speaking exclusively to MMANytt.se yesterday, Hermansson revealed he was still in an incredible amount of pain heading into the last round.
“I never really recovered (from the rib injury) but [coach] Mohosen Bahari screamed some nice words and I thought ‘Lets fucking go!’ Hermansson said.
“But my ‘Lets fucking go’ was put down pretty quickly when I felt the pain of just throwing strikes in the start of the second round. When he shot it felt like I was being tortured.
“Every time I had the desire to fight against I felt how the pain almost paralysed me. I’ve never felt so much pain in my life”
After the fight, Hermansson said an x-ray revealed that he’s not broken his rib, but that he’d torn the cartilage between them.
The Swede doesn’t know how long he will remain out of action, but he’s already eyeing up a big time fight with another Brazilian later this year.
“My goal is to heal up” and after that “I don’t know, maybe Brazil a fourth time? Jacare in Sao Paolo in September?”
