Gunnar Nelson has suffered an injury that will force him out of the co-main event at UFC Fight Night in Liverpool on May 27.

Sources close to the situation confirmed the news following an initial report from MMATakeover on Saturday.

It’s an unfortunate blow to the UFC’s first ever card in Liverpool where local favorite Darren Till takes on Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in the main event.

With Nelson out of action with a reported knee injury that may require surgery, that leaves Neil Magny without an opponent with almost exactly one month to go until the card.

There’s no word yet on the UFC’s plans for Magny or the co-main event in Liverpool, although a replacement opponent is likely being sought at this time.
