Ryan Garcia defeats Devin Haney in crazy match of the year contender!
Ryan Garcia raised a lot of eyebrows before his fight with Devin Haney, but when the bell rang, he delivered!
Garcia and Haney met in what should have been a fight for the WBC super lightweight belt. Unfortunately, Garcia missed weight, which meant that if he won, he would not win the title.
The high-profile meeting got off to an explosive start as Garcia came out firing. He pushed forward and landed an early left hand that rocked Haney.
After an explosive start, Haney fought his way into the fight and took over as the fight progressed. Garcia looked increasingly lethargic as Haney kept a steady pace and scored points. Although Garcia had his explosive moments, it looked like Haney would be able to take the win by calmly pressing forward.
But just when it looked like Haney had found his way to victory, Garcia showed why his power must be respected. In the seventh round he landed a right hand that sent Haney to the canvas and although Haney got up, it was obvious that he was badly hurt.
The referee took a point away from Garcia for striking after the two had separated. Haney did not look to be on his feet and once again went to the canvas on shaky legs, but survived.

The crowd roared as the final rounds ticked off, but it was Garcia who was in control as he continued to hurt Haney, who could barely hang on. It was an action packed final few minutes as Garcia proved his critics wrong with his fitness, power and combinations.
After twelve rounds, the last of which was action packed to the max, it was up to the judges to decide the fight. One judge scored the fight a draw, while two judges scored Garcia the winner.
