Francis Ngannou Open to Fight Jon Jones: “There’s a Chance”
Triumphant Return Against Ferreira
Francis Ngannou returned to MMA with a dominant performance against Renan Ferreira at PFL: Battle of the Giants, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Cameroonian powerhouse secured a first-round TKO, overwhelming Ferreira with ground-and-pound strikes. This victory marks Ngannou’s comeback after nearly three years away from MMA, following his exit from the UFC and his brief foray into boxing. Ngannou dedicated the win to his late son, Kobe, and expressed the emotional weight of the match given his recent personal loss.
Despite contemplating retirement, Ngannou confirmed he remains passionate about competing, though he’s still uncertain whether his next fight will be in MMA or boxing. His dominant showing against Ferreira has reignited discussions about his status as one of the world’s top heavyweights, with many calling him the best on the planet.
Keeping His Options Open
Ngannou acknowledged that, while the victory against Ferreira was significant, he’s in no rush to make decisions about his next fight. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, he discussed the uncertainty surrounding his future and mentioned that he’s evaluating all possibilities. He admitted he initially doubted his readiness for the Ferreira fight, given the emotional and physical challenges he faced this year.
However, Ngannou stressed that there’s no perfect time to resume fighting after tragedy, and he made the decision to step back into the cage, regardless of the outcome. Ngannou remains open to both MMA and boxing, highlighting that his decision will depend on the offers presented by different organizations.
“I haven’t made a decision yet; it depends on the organizations. If PFL offers something, I might go with it, or if it’s boxing, I’ll consider that too,” he said. For now, his primary focus is on recovery, and he plans to return in mid-2025.

Ngannou expressed gratitude for Jones’ recognition and is aware of the growing interest in a potential superfight between them. Although they have not yet spoken about the matchup, Ngannou stated that the possibility is real.
“There’s a chance. I can’t say how big, but there is a chance. I know there’s interest,” Ngannou revealed.
