Fabian Edwards vs Lee Chadwick In The Works For Bellator Newcastle
The fight card for Bellator Newcastle appears to be shaping up nicely and a bout between two of the UK’s most highly thought of middleweights looks soon to be added.
Sources close to MMANytt have confirmed that undefeated Fabian Edwards (5-0) will take on former Cage Warriors middleweight champion Lee Chadwick (24-13-1) on Feb. 9 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England.
Edwards is undefeated both as an amateur and a professional and has fought once previously under the Bellator MMA banner. The 25-year-old was expected to go on to fight for the BAMMA middleweight world title after putting together a four-fight win streak in the promotion, but earlier this year announced that he’d signed a multi-fight contract with Bellator. All of Edwards’ professional wins has come via a finish and he will be looking to claim the biggest win of his career to date come Feb. 9 when he faces “The Butcher” in Newcastle.
Chadwick is currently riding a three fight win streak and was the reigning Cage Warriors 185-pounds champion after he defeated Victor Cheng at CW 88. The Liverpudlian was expected to face Jonas Billstein at Cage Warriors 96, but failed to make the 185-pounds championship weight limit and was stripped of the title. Chadwick then signed for Cage Warriors and will make his promotional debut when he faces Edwards in Newcastle.
The only bout announced for Bellator Newcastle so far is a lightweight bout pitting Ryan Scope against Patricky “Pitbull” Freire.
