Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje Expected at UFC 218 in Detroit

The two 'Ultimate Fighter' 26 coaches are expected to meet on Dec. 2 in Detroit

It looks like UFC 218 is getting another huge fight.

Following a season coaching against each other on “The Ultimate Fighter” , former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez is expected to meet Justin Gaethje at UFC 218 in Detroit on Dec. 2.

Sources close to the fight confirmed the date and location of the bout following an initial post from Alvarez’s head coach Mark Henry announcing the date. BJPenn.com first reported the date for the fight.

Alvarez will look to get back into the win column following a TKO loss to Conor McGregor last November before going to a no contest with Dustin Poirier earlier this year after a pair of illegal strikes stopped the fight.

As for Gaethje, the former World Series of Fighting champion is undefeated and considered one of the most exciting fighters on the planet. He made quite the debut earlier this year when he knocked out Michael Johnson before earning his slot on “The Ultimate Fighter”

UFC 218 will be headlined by a featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar with heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou squaring off in the co-main event.
