Dustin Poirier praises Conor McGregor as the hardest hitter he’s faced “By far”
Dustin Poirier keeps it real, and is even willing to openly give praise to rival Conor McGregor as a hard hitter. The hardest, in fact.
It was at UFC 178 when Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor first collided. It ended in a first round knockout win for McGregor, and was a star-making performance. Poirier, however, would recover, change to the lightweight division, where he has competed since. Despite coming up short in his bid to capture the lightweight title, he has a 9-2 1 NC record in the he division. McGregor on the other hand, has been kept occupied with controversies outside of the cage.

There was very obvious bad blood between the two ahead of their 2014 bout. That wont stop Poirier from giving his former foe credit, though. When a fan asked Poirier who the hardest hitter he’s faced is, he openly admitted to it being McGregor.
“Conor by far,” Poirier responded.

Poirier has been campaigning for a rematch with McGregor, but to no avail. McGregor announced his return to the UFC recently, and it seems that the UFC is targeting a bout with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Since his submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov Poirier has not yet been booked for a new fight. However he has expressed a desire to compete on the same fight card as Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson.
