VIDEO: Dricus du Plessis: UFC’s New Middleweight Champion
The South African sensation, Dricus du Plessis, aged 30, has clinched the UFC Middleweight title. Last weekend at UFC 297 in Toronto, Canada, du Plessis emerged victorious over Sean Strickland. This triumph marks his seventh consecutive win in the premier MMA organization. Following his win, du Plessis boldly challenged former champion Israel Adesanya.
Back in Johannesburg, du Plessis received a hero’s welcome at the airport. Hundreds of fans gathered to celebrate the new UFC champion. Du Plessis expressed his gratitude, overwhelmed by the support:
“Absolutely amazing, it feels incredible. Thanks to everyone, this moment wouldn’t be special without all of you here. This makes it all worth it.”
It just hits different when an international fighter becomes ufc champion and they get that hometown reception.
