Donald Trump sends a sweet message to Tito Ortiz… After his choke
This past weekend, “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz returned to MMA competition after being away for over a year. He took on professional wrestler-turned-MMA fighter Alberto Del Rio in a 210 pound bout at Combate Americas 51, and put on a show for the fans.
I did not even take Ortiz three minutes before he got his hands on his 42-year-old opponent, and made him tap out. Ortiz has now won three straight and has gone 5-1 since his departure from the UFC in 2012.
But even though Ortiz was happy to get the win over Del Rio, he was probably even happier when the President of the United States Donald Trump took to Twitter to congratulate him:
“Congratulations to Tito Ortiz on tonight’s huge WIN, a Great American Patriot!”

Donald Trump is a big fan of MMA
Trump is a long-time fan of MMA and helped the UFC when the company was struggling in the early 2000s:
“The Trump Taj Mahal was the only venue that would take us and accept us at the time… [Trump] saw this thing before anybody else did,” UFC president Dana White said about Trump’s relationship with the UFC. “A lot of people want to jump in after and everybody tries to throw money at it … but this guy saw it before anybody did.”
Trump has a lot of support from MMA-stars like Chael Sonnen and Donald Cerrone, but few are as die-hard republican as Ortiz.
“The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” chose to wear Trump’s name on his shorts, t-shirt and flag at Combate Americas 51, and continuously shares pro-Trump messages on his social media platforms.
With three straight wins under his belt, and the support of Trump, Ortiz’ next fight will most likely have a lot more fans tuning in.
