Derrick Lewis Confirms Broken Hand Suffered During Fight Against Marcin Tybura

Derrick Lewis is already receiving treatment for a broken hand suffered in his last fight

Derrick Lewis is on the mend after suffering a broken hand in his third round knockout victory over Marcin Tybura this past weekend at UFC Fight Night in Austin, Texas.

Lewis revealed on Instagram that he suffered a fracture of the 4th metacarpal in his left hand.

Lewis engaged in a back and forth brawl with Tybura before landing the homerun shot in the third round where he earned the knockout victory in his home state of Texas.

It was Lewis’ ninth win by knockout or TKO in the UFC.

There’s no word yet on how long the broken hand will keep Lewis out of action, although typical recovery time for an injury like that is usually around four to six weeks so it won’t likely put him on the sidelines any longer than a typical layoff between fights.

Lewis stated after his win on Saturday night that he hoped to land a matchup against a top five ranked heavyweight next with interest in potential matchups against both Fabricio Werdum as well as Francis Ngannou.
