Daniel Cormier Says He’d Party If Dana White Offered Him A Third Fight With Jon Jones
Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic went toe-to-toe in Las Vegas for the first time last evening ahead of season 27 of The Ultimate Fighter.
Both Cormier and Miocic will act as coaches on the latest season and they were made available to the local media for interviews last night. Cormier, the UFC light heavyweight champion, has a long and storied rivalry with Jon Jones and as ever, talk of another fight between the pair of them wasn’t far away.
When asked whether he would consider taking a third fight with Jones if his USADA ban isn’t as long as first feared, Cormier didn’t hesitate for a second giving his answer.
“I don’t think you’ve ever seen a party like I would party,” Cormier told MMA Junkie. “I mean, you know me, all I want to do is fight and all I want to do is fight him so if you guys think for a second that Dana goes ‘You’re going to fight Jones’ and that I wouldn’t be ecstatic, that’s crazy.
“But, again, that would take a lot of trust in a guy that we haven’t really been able to trust.”
With Cormier retirement date in site and laid out for early 2019, the 205-pounds champ reassured fans that win or lost again Miocic, he will continue fighting all the way through to his retirement date.
“I dunno, just more competition,” Cormier said when asked what he would do if he lost. “That’s what I’ve done my whole life so to just walk away from it when I can still do it, that’s kind of crazy. Especially when we know that it would only be six or seven months before I’m really never going to fight again right? I believe I would go fight again. Win or lose, I will fight again.”
