Business Before Birth: Dana White’s Unusual Decision
UFC President Dana White is renowned for his business acumen, a trait that sometimes leads to unconventional decisions. White, at the helm of UFC since 2001 after its acquisition by childhood friends Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta, has driven the organization to unprecedented success. His dedication, however, has come with personal sacrifices.
Dana White’s Family Sacrifice for UFC Gala
During an appearance on the Pound 4 Pound podcast with former UFC champions Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, White shared a startling personal story. He revealed that he postponed the birth of his son, Aidan White, to accommodate a major pay-per-view event featuring UFC legend Chuck Liddell.
UFC’s Commitment: Business or Family?
Most people would prioritize the birth of their child, but Dana White chose differently. “My son Aidan’s birth was scheduled during Chuck Liddell’s fight… against someone. I moved his birth date for the Chuck Liddell match. I said, ‘Yeah, that’s not going to work. We have a big damn match going on,’ so my wife had a C-section instead,” White explained. Kamaru Usman, in response to this revelation, commented, “What a businessman.”
Dana White’s Future with UFC
Despite the sacrifices, Dana White remains integral to UFC, with no indications of leaving his position soon. He has hinted at a successor, likely UFC executive Hunter Campbell, who, despite his significant influence, prefers to stay out of the spotlight, focusing on key decisions within the organization.
