Dana White Slams the Door on Conor McGregor vs. Manny Pacquiao

Don't buy any plane tickets to see Conor McGregor in a boxing match against Manny Pacquiao just yet

If Manny Pacquiao is negotiating for a fight against Conor McGregor, that comes as news to his promoter, UFC president Dana White.

On Friday, Pacquiao was asked by reporters about a potential matchup against McGregor and he revealed that his team had reached out to the UFC lightweight champion to begin a conversation about booking a fight between the two of them.

Pacquiao is reportedly returning to the ring in April and McGregor was one of his possible opponents.

Well, White quickly shut down those rumors by not only pointing out that any fight involving McGregor would have to go through him but if Pacquiao really is speaking to somebody else, he might get a visit from a lawyer in the near future.

“No,” White said when asked if a fight between McGregor and Pacquiao was in the works. “That would be weird cause he’s under contract with us.

“If that’s true, I will be suing Manny Pacquaio and whoever’s representing him. I’m assuming that’s not true.”

McGregor hasn’t fought since August when he lost by 10th round TKO to Floyd Mayweather in his professional boxing debut.

Since then, McGregor has been biding his time while negotiating with the UFC on a new deal that will bring him back to the Octagon with more lucrative terms than his previous contract.

As of now the two sides remain at odds but White seems confident that McGregor’s next fight will take place inside the Octagon and he doesn’t expect the lightweight champion to end up in a boxing match with Pacquiao or anybody else for that matter.
