UFC boss defends UFC event: “I don’t sit around and wait somebody to tell me…”
Amidst the ongoing pandemic, it seems that there is much that is going to change. Some things, however, seem to remain the same. For example: UFC president Dana White will continue to do things his way, and nobody is going to tell him otherwise. Yesterday he announced that the UFC were planning an event on May 9th, and White plans on going ahead with it regardless.
In a recent interview with MMA Fighting admitted that the coming UFC events will be costly, much more so than previous events. However he is willing to soldier ahead, and speaks about the whole situation with confidence.
“Listen I’m not stopping,” White said. “I have this thing figured out. The reality is can it be done? Yes, it can be done. It’s just very expensive. It’s very expensive and I’m willing to spend the money to do it.”

Previously, White took an almost aggressive stance towards critics when defending his decision-making. Throughout his time as UFC president White has taken the approach of a strong leader, and he claims he’s putting the best interest of his fighters and employees above all else.
“I don’t sit around and wait for somebody to tell me it’s time to do this, it’s time to do that,” White said. “You’ve got to look ahead at what’s happening out there. My commitment is to my employees and to my fighters. I don’t want [to] lay anybody off and I don’t want fighters sitting around for a year not being able to make money but I want everybody to be safe.
“Instead of hiding from this thing, how do you get out there and figure out how to function yet be safe about it,” he continued. “My biggest problem with this whole thing is misinformation. You read one thing here, you read something different over here. Nobody really knows what’s going on. It’s been a very strange thing to deal with.”
Regardless of one’s own opinions, you cannot question that White’s burning desire to go ahead with UFC events is the only shining light in the sports world as of now.
