Dana White Confirms Who Is Next for UFC Champion Kamaru Usman
UFCs president Dana White confirms that Leon Edwards will have the next title shot against welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
“Rocky” Edwards has gone undefeated in ten fights and has not lost since December 2015 when he was defeated by Usman via unanimous decision. In his most recent bout, Edwards won against fan favorite Nate Diaz via unanimous decision. He was then booked in to face Jorge Masvidal, but the fight was canceled when Masvidal withdrawal due to an injury.
Masvidal is now booked to fight Colby Covington while Edwards is next in line for Usman. The UFC president was able to confirm the information in a conversation with MMA reporter Aaron Bronsteter.

Despite Edwards having an impressive winning streak, injuries, illnesses and the pandemic have put the brakes on for the British’s UFC fighter. He has had canceled bouts against the Swedish raising star Khamzat Chimaev, Masvidal and former champion Tyron Woodley. His fight against Belal Muhammad in March of 2021 came to an abrupt end in the second round after an unfortunate eye poke.
Usman, on the contrary, has remained active and successfully defended his title three times last year. He defeated Covington in his last fight and had previously finished both Gilbert Burns and Masvidal via KO/TKO.
