Dana White Confirms Tyron Woodley vs. Rafael dos Anjos Is ‘The Fight To Make’

Despite protests from Tyron Woodley, Dana White says Rafael dos Anjos is next in line for a title shot

Tyron Woodley may want the UFC to reshuffle the deck to find him a worthy contender but it appears the promotion has already anointed that candidate.

UFC president Dana White confirmed on Sunday night that former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is next in line for a shot at Woodley’s welterweight title following his last win over Robbie Lawler this past December.

Dos Anjos has gone undefeated thus far in his welterweight campaign with three straight wins in the division, capped off with the dominant victory over Lawler to put him into title contention.

“As soon as he’s healthy, obviously, RDA is the fight to make, especially the way he looked in the Robbie Lawler fight,” White said during the UFC Fight Night post fight show. “We’re just waiting for Tyron to get healthy.”

Dos Anjos was definitely happy to hear the news that he’s officially the No. 1 contender in the welterweight division.

Woodley is currently recovering from shoulder surgery that is expected to keep out of action for at least a couple of months.

Woodley has stated that he would be ready to fight as early as the first quarter of 2018 but he’s still in the early stages of his rehabilitation following surgery.

It appears once he’s healthy, Woodley will have a showdown with dos Anjos awaiting him as he looks to retain his welterweight title yet again.
