Dana White confirms new Floyd Mayweather fight plans – Not vs McGregor

"He wants to fight"

While nothing is written in stone, it seems that retired former world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr is itching for a new fight. UFC president Dana White has been in talks with the boxing star, and while there is no confirmed fight lined up, the discussions have begun.

“Floyd and I still have dialogue and go back and forth,” White said in an interview with TMZ. “We’re still interested on both sides.”

These tentative plans were then reaffirmed in yet another recent interview, stating that Mayweather wants another boxing bout.

“Floyd wants to fight,” White said in an Instagram live stream with Yahoo! Sports. “… He wants to fight. We’re going to probably … Listen: I’m dealing with all the (expletive) that’s going on with 2020 right now. Floyd and I want to work together. We want to do something. We’re going to do something. I just need a little more time to get my (expletive) together.”

Mayweather most recently competed in August of 2017, when eh finished UFC superstar Conor McGregor via TKO in the tenth round. That also became one of the most successful boxing pay-per-view events of all time. Mayweather retired shortly after lining up his 50th consecutive victory. Despite the widespread, mainstream success of the event, White insists that McGregor is retired, and that none of these boxing plans concern the Irish superstar.
