Heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov to headline UFC Saskatoon
The UFC will return to Canada on June 29th with UFC Saskatoon, and the event just got a hard-hitting main event. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, heavyweights Curtis “Razor” Blaydes and Alexander “Drago” Volkov will meet in the main event. American Blaydes will put his three fight winning streak on the line against Volkov; Russia’s premiere UFC heavyweight.

Blaydes suffered a setback late 2018, getting knocked out by rival Francis Ngannou in their rematch. That loss snapped a six fight unbeaten streak that included wins over Mark Hunt and Alistair Overeem. Last year he rebounded with a one-sided bulldozing of Justin Willis, and followed up with TKO wins over Shamil Abdurakimov and former champ Junior dos Santos.
Volkov has won five out of his six fights in the UFC and is a former Bellator heavyweight champion. After winning four straight fights, including TKO wins over Stefan Struve and Fabricio Werdum, Volkov faced Derrick Lewis at UFC 229. The Russian dominated most of hte fight, and seemed to be heading towards a unanimous decision victory, but was struck by a hard shot and then finished with just seconds left in the bout. After that he rebounded with a clear-cut decision win over Greg Hardy in Moscow.
