Cub Swanson vs. Brian Ortega official as main event for UFC Fight Night in Fresno

The featherweights will clash in a five round fight airing live on FS1

The featherweights will clash in the main event at UFC Fight Night in Fresno, Calif. as Cub Swanson faces off with dangerous submission specialist Brian Ortega on Dec. 9 at the Save Mart Center.

UFC officials confirmed the matchup on Tuesday.

Swanson is currently riding a four fight win streak including a ‘Fight of the Year’ performance against Doo Ho Choi last year as well as a ‘Fight of the Night’ victory over Artem Lobov earlier this year.

Swanson will fight in December on the final bout of his current deal with the UFC and while he hopes to re-up with the promotion, he’s expressed his desire to make more money.

“This will be my 22nd fight with the company and to think I’m not a multi-millionaire by now is kind of crazy,” Swanson told FloCombat.

As for Ortega, he enters the fight with an undefeated record while earning finishes in each of his last four fights inside the Octagon.

This fight will serve as Ortega’s chance to crack the top five in the featherweight division but he’s got a tough task ahead of him as Swanson is one of the most experienced veterans on the roster.

UFC Fight Night from Fresno will air live on FS1 on Saturday night, Dec. 9.
