Covington rips Tyron Woodley, calls out Demian Maia on Fight Society podcast

Top 10 ranked welterweight Colby Covington never holds his tongue, especially when it comes to his opinion on the fighters in his division.
On the latest Fight Society podcast, Covington gives his thoughts on the recent title fight between Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia at UFC 214 as wall as his relationship with the current welterweight champion.
Covington has been very vocal when speaking about Woodley despite both fighters representing American Top Team inside the Octagon, but he explains on the podcast why he doesn’t consider him a true teammate like many other fighters he works alongside everyday.
“He trains full time in St. Louis, he doesn’t come to [American Top Team in] Coconut Creek,” Covington explained. “I think he came to Coconut Creek, he came by one time and that’s because [American Top Team owner] Dan Lambert was going to take him out for steak. So besides that time for him coming down so our manager could put him up and give him a nice steak dinner to calm him down from his boring fighting ways. I don’t consider him a teammate.
“He trains in St. Louis. He’s at RoufusSport. Look who’s in his corner. He’s got RoufusSport. What do you want to claim? That’s like me going to Jackson-Wink or something and then going ‘I’m part of ATT but I’m Jackson-Wink, too’. You can’t be in the middle. You have to pick a side.”
Covington also weighed in on Woodley’s victory against Maia, which has been criticized despite the lopsided scores he received from the judges because the fight was deemed less than exciting over five rounds.
“I think it’s fair. This is the entertainment business. He didn’t put on an entertaining show,” Covington said about Woodley’s win. “That was boring. No one wants to see that. You better do some stuff in your walkout or say some stuff in the interviews but he’s out here saying ‘oh racism, everybody talks s–t on me cause they’re racist’, he’s pulling that bulls–t card. That’s a b–ch move man. Everybody’s been doing that since how long ago?
“So I think his criticism is warranted and he’s a little b–ch.”
Covington also addresses his recent threat to release inflammatory information on Woodley after the welterweight champion promised to do the same to UFC president Dana White after he was outspoken in his criticism for the fight with Maia.
