Conor McGregor: “THE WARRIOR SPIRIT BURNS STRONG”

Irish superstar teases BKFC debut – but will UFC allow it?

McGregor and BKFC: The Endless Speculation -Speaks about his future at the press conference

Conor McGregor has once again declared his intention to fight in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). The former UFC superstar and Irish icon has been absent from competition since 2021, when he suffered a severe leg injury in his bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Since then, much of the attention surrounding McGregor has focused on controversies, legal troubles, or cryptic statements about his fighting future.

In 2023, McGregor was announced as a shareholder in BKFC, and he has repeatedly teased the idea of stepping into the bare-knuckle ring. During the press conference for BKFC Italy in Florence, McGregor was once again the center of attention.

“The warrior spirit burns strong inside me. If you think I’m just up here to give speeches and lead men into battle, think again,” McGregor stated.

McGregor Insists: He Will Fight in BKFC

Despite speculation, McGregor insists there are no doubts about his intention to compete in BKFC. However, his current UFC contract remains a major obstacle. UFC President Dana White has repeatedly dodged questions about McGregor’s next fight, suggesting that the situation remains unclear.

Still, McGregor remains confident that he will make his BKFC debut.

“For sure. Conor McGregor will fight in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, mark my words,” McGregor proclaimed.

Chasing a BKFC World Title

When asked about a potential opponent, McGregor made it clear that he wants to fight at the highest level from the start.

“I want a title fight in this organization. I want a world title,” McGregor declared.

He also mentioned several potential matchups, including former UFC fighters Mike Perry, Jeremy Stephens, and a possible rematch against Eddie Alvarez. BKFC President David Feldman has acknowledged that a McGregor fight would be massive for the promotion but remains uncertain about whether the UFC would allow it.

Legal Issues and Future Uncertainty

McGregor’s return to competition is further complicated by legal troubles. In December 2023, he was found liable for sexual assault in a civil case at High Court Dublin. The case, brought by Nikita Hand, involved allegations of a 2018 assault. McGregor was ordered to pay €248,603.60 in damages.

McGregor has denied all allegations and announced plans to appeal the verdict.

Given these legal issues and his contractual obligations to the UFC, McGregor’s future in BKFC remains uncertain. Regardless, the Irishman continues to make headlines with bold statements and ambitious plans. Whether he can turn those words into action remains to be seen.
