Conor McGregor sends surprising message to Khabib – following father’s coma
Former double champion Conor McGregor and reigning lightweight kingpin Khabib Nurmagomedov have a well-documented and infected rivalry. However, following the news about Khabib’s father being in a coma in Moscow, “The Notorious” McGregor reaches out to the Nurmagomedovs.
Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmgomedov fought for the UFC lightweight strap in 2018 but have been bitter rivals long before that. While their bout ended in a fourth-round submission win for “The Eagle” Khabib, their antagonism has only grown bigger.
In the last couple of days, McGregor and Khabib have gone back-and-forth on social media, insulting each other and adding fuel to the fire. But in the wake of Khabib’s family tragedy, where news is spread that his father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov is in a coma, McGregor now extends a hand.
“Praying for the recovery of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “A man responsible for more World champions, across multiple fighting disciplines, than we even know. A true martial genius! Very saddened upon hearing this news tonight. Praying for the Nurmagomedov family at this time.”

Who is next for McGregor?
McGregor recently challenged interim champion Justin Gaethje in hopes of taking his place in getting the next title shot at lightweight gold. “The Notorious” McGregor has several times verbally attacked Nurmagomedov and vowed to defeat him if he would get a rematch against the powerful Dagestani champion.
But, all of those things seems to be set aside now that “The Eagle” is focusing on his family and getting past these troubling times.
