Conor McGregor Says Khabib Nurmagomedov Fight Is ‘Close’ To Being A Done Deal
Conor McGregor says his team are close to finalizing a deal for him to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Rumours have been doing the rounds for weeks regarding a possible showdown at UFC 229 coming up on Oct. 6 and speaking on the streets in New York City today to TMZ, the Irishman confirmed that a deal is close to being done.
“It’s very close, it’s not official, but we’re close,” McGregor said.
“I believe so. I hope so. I’m pushing for it.” he responded when asked if his return will happen in 2018.
As for where it happens, it appears his return will be going down in Las Vegas as expected.
“We will see what happens,” McGregor said. “I’d love to fight in The Garden, but I believe this one is in Las Vegas.”
Prior to speaking about his own return, McGregor gave his thoughts on former rival Jose Aldo’s emotional win this past weekend and he praised the Brazilian for his victory.
“I was so happy for him,” McGregor said. “Honestly, truly happy for him.
“To see the joy he had after it, it’s a crazy business and he’s gone through a lot of stuff. To see him come back with that crazy finish, I was very happy for him and his coach Andre Pedeneras.”
