Conor McGregor refutes Tyron Fury’s training claim

"I never spoke to the man in my life"

On multiple occasions, boxing world champ Tyson Fury has claimed that he will train with Conor McGregor before transitioning to MMA. While McGregor certainly thinks highly of the heavyweight boxer, he seems completely unknowing of any plans to train with him. McGregor was recently asked about training with Fury, and he responded, somewhat puzzled.

“Tyson keeps saying me and him spoke, and I said I’d train him,” McGregor told BT Sport . “I never spoke to Tyson in my life, so I don’t know why he’s saying that.”

However, the former UFC champion has the utmost respect for Fury. McGregor does think that Fury will compete in MMA, if he sets his mind to it.

“Tyson’s a good man. I like Tyson,” McGregor said. “He’s a great boxer, a phenomenal boxer, probably the best natural boxer in the heavyweight division at this time. So who knows. I wouldn’t say he is just saying he’d do it and not do it like a lot of them do. I’d say Tyson would probably do it in time, so you never know.

“But I found it funny that he said we talked and all this. He’s a madman Tyson. I never spoke to the man in my life.”

Fury’s next tas will be a rematch with Deontay Wilder on February 22nd. Their first meeting ended in a controversial draw, that many felt Fury should have won. Fury dictated most of the fight, but was dropped with a late haymaker that would have stopped lesser fighters. He ended up recovering, but didn’t do enough to secure victory.
