According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, the UFC are in talks for booking McGregor against ferocious finisher Justin Gaethje. As of now all talk is preliminary, but according to the reports this is the most likely opponent for McGregor.
As of now Gaethje is on a three fight winning streak, with T/KO wins over James Vick, the above mentioned Cerrone, and Edson Barboza. Gaethje has a knack for violent finishes, earning at least one UFC performance bonus in each of his fights with the promotion.
As stated above the fight is far from booked. There is much that can and will happen before McGregor’s next fight materialises. However with both having a fan-friendly fighting style, McGregor vs Gaethje has the potential to be one of the best fights of the year.
