Colby Covington eyes bouts with “bum” Robert Whittaker & “sheep-lover” Khabib

✅ Controversial Colby Covington plans one becoming triple champ, wanting to face both MW champ Robert Whittaker and LW champ Khabib Nurmagomedov

After securing the biggest win of his career recently, Colby Covington’s stock has risen monumentally. At UFC on ESPN 5 he defeated former champ Robbie Lawler in a dominating performance that earned Covington a unanimous decision win. While this has seemingly opened up for a title bout with welterweight champ Kamaru Usman, there are other title fights on the radar. Covington also wants to face middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“I want to be champ-champ-champ, the first ever. I’m already breaking all of the history books. In my last fight’s it was the most significant strikes ever thrown. The first family was front row, I got a call from the president,” Covington told MMA Junkie about his plans to become triple champ. Covington would not let Whittaker and Nurmagomedov escape unscathed, though.

“I can go down to Lightweight and up to Middleweight. I am looking to fight Whittaker, he’s a bum, he’s got no wrestling, no heart, no cardio. Then Khabib, come one man, that sheep lover has got nothing for me. The guy is over in Russia playing with sheep. What is he going to do to raw American steel and twisted sex appeal?”

Covington’s mocking of Whittaker and Nurmagomedov is only the latest in a series of brash comments and controversies. As far as fighting goes, he currently sits at a #2 ranking in the division with seven straight wins, his last two over former champions. Despite that, and also being a former interim champion, a bout with Usman hasn’t been cleared yet. While the general consensus is that Usman vs Covington should be next, fans around the world have been left waiting in regards to when it materialises.
