Colby Covington BLASTS referee in expletive filled statement after UFC 245

"Normally people do their f*cking in the bedroom... You should be ashamed of yourself... Fake ref."

Colby Covington is not pleased with referee Marc Goddard – And is letting him have it on social media.

In the main event at UFC 245 the grudge match between welterweight champ Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington was finally settled. The bout was close, competitive and won the “Fight of the Night” bonus. In the end, though, Usman finished Covington via fifth round TKO after also breaking the latter’s jaw in the third round.

Covington was visibly upset after the fight, swiftly leaving the cage. He then took to social media to rant on referee Marc Goddard, who stopped the fight.

It didn’t stop there, however. Covington then released a second statement, once again ripping Goddard for the stoppage.

“Just a kid from Oregon chasing the American Dream. Working hard and earning everything in my life the hard way since day one. I put myself out there in front of the world to kill or be killed. Marc Godard robbed me tonight with piss poor officiating. He let my opponent fake injuries for extra time and stopped the fight early. Just like America, my will and spirit can never be broken. Speed bumps can’t slow me down. You people ain’t seen nothing yet. #ufc245”

The loss to Usman snapped Covington’s seven fight win streak. Before this he had defeated former UFC champions Rafael dos Anjos and Robbie Lawler. While UFC president Dana White and most of the MMA community are on board with the stoppage, it’s clear that Covington felt he could continue. As he states, though, he will return in the not too distant future.
