ONE Championship Announce Women’s Strawweight Title Fight For Event In China On May 26
ONE Championship will hold their first event in China in 2018 on May 26 when ONE: Battle For The Heavens takes place at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Centre.
The main event will be contested by China’s own ONE women’s strawweight champion Xiong Jing Nan defending her title against Laura “La Gladiadora” Balin of Argentina.
Jing Nan (11-1) won the title earlier this year in January when she defeated Tiffany Teo at ONE: Kings of Courage in Singapore. Jing Nan is currently riding a six fight win streak with four wins in Kunlun Fight MMA prior a successful debut in ONE Championship in December last year against April Osenio.
Jing Nan’s opponent, Balin (10-2), has fought exclusively in South America and is riding a four fight win streak with four finishes. The most recognisable name on Balin’s record is Brazilian fighter Kalindra Faria who has recently been competing under the UFC banner. Faria defeated Balin via submission in the Brazilian promotion MMA Super Heroes, but Balin has since put together her winning streak of four and is undefeated since that fight in 2014.
No other fights have been announced for the card. ONE Championship’s next event goes down this Saturday when Martin Nguyen attempts to become the first man in MMA history to hold three world titles simultaneously. Nguyen will look to add Bibiano Fernandes’ ONE bantamweight title to the ONE featherweight and ONE lightweight titles that he already holds.
